When
you are running disk mirroring, what happens when
you run a defrag against a file? Does it defrag
both locations of the file? |

Question
1:
|
| How
do I turn off paging in De-Frag/X? |
|
| Answer: |
| Interactive
runs of De-Frag/X paginate output, approximately
every 22 lines. At the end of each "page," De-Frag/X
prompts to continue. A "/"
will terminate the current command, and a dash "-"
will turn off paging for the rest of that command.

2: |
| How
long does the jdefragx
job take? |
|
| Answer: |
| This
really depends on the percentage of free space you
are starting with. If the free space for a disk
is greater than 45%, then you can expect 30-45 minutes
for the job to run on that disk. If your free space
is less than 45%, then give yourself between 45-75
minutes to run for that disk. |

| Question
3: |
| What
is the sysxtnts
file? |
|
| Answer: |
| This
is a Temporary Work File left behind by fscheck.mpexl.telesup
due to a bug in fscheck.
This bug will be fixed in the 6.5 version of fscheck.
This file should be purged after each run of fscheck. |

4: |
| I
have an older version of DEFRAG/X - are there any
problems I should be aware of? |
|
| Answer: |
|
The
deflog.pub.sys
file in versions B.05c and B.06f fills up. Versions
B.07k and later will mend this. Supported De-Frag/X
users should update to this version. An alternative
fix is to add a purge
statement before the run
command in the jdefragx
job. The statement will look like:
!purge
deflog.pub.sys
This
file will then be rebuilt as necessary.Contact
your account manager at (541) 812-7600 for update
information, or email support@lund.com
for help with updating the jdefragx
job.

5: |
| When
you are running disk mirroring, what happens when
you run a defrag against a file? Does it defrag
both locations of the file? |
|
| Answer: |
| De-Frag/X
only has to do the primary, the mirroring software/hardware
will take care of the operation on the secondaries. |
